Unlike any other festival, this celebration can only happen here. Experience a community with generational musical history and a historical coal mine turned mountain bike mecca of uniquely beautiful, world-class trails.
This year, the Trail Folk Music Festival is proud to introduce the NEW ARTIST SHOWCASE—a special addition designed to spotlight emerging talent. Rooted in the same spirit of community and creativity that defines the festival, this showcase offers two up-and-coming artists the opportunity to share their music on a festival stage and connect with new audiences in a meaningful way.
Selected artists will be featured as part of the official lineup, gaining valuable performance experience while being celebrated alongside established acts. The New Artist Showcase reflects the festival’s commitment to nurturing talent and creating space for fresh voices, ensuring the future of music continues to grow and thrive in Grand Lake.
Saturday, August 15 – 10am to 1pm
MUSIC ON THE TRAILS is a truly unique festival experience that brings music into the heart of nature. Set along a scenic 1 km route on the Mountain Bike Minto trail system—built on Minto’s historic coal mining grounds—this immersive event invites attendees to explore the trails while discovering live performances along the way. Surrounded by forest, fresh air, and beautiful views, each turn of the trail reveals a new artist, creating a sense of surprise and connection that’s unlike any traditional concert setting.
Music on the Trails is a family-friendly experience that encourages participants to slow down, wander, and take in both the music and the landscape. Whether you’re a longtime resident or visiting the Grand Lake area for the first time, it’s a perfect opportunity to experience the trails in a new way—where culture and nature come together in a relaxed and memorable setting.
As a free event, Music on the Trails opens the festival to the broader community and invites everyone to be part of the celebration. With multiple musicians performing at points along the route, attendees can move at their own pace, creating their own journey through sound and scenery while discovering everything this special place has to offer.
Please note: the trail is not accessible and features uneven terrain including roots, rocks, inclines, and winding sections.
